Regatta Updates

We have taken the decision to officially stand down The Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta®? for Sunday 19th June, as current weather forecasts show rain and instability throughout our flying window.

While this was the last of our planned four standby dates, we are now working with all parties to confirm if there is availability in the coming weeks. We will provide a further update as soon as possible.

We are officially standing down the Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta® for Sunday 12th June 2022.

The wind direction tomorrow morning is following the river Thames and therefore not suitable for a mass ascent of balloons. There are limited landing opportunities along the route which although would be fine for one or two balloons, but not for the 50 taking off.

The event now rolls to the next standby date which is 19th June 2022, updates will be provided next on Thursday 16th June 2022.

Based on current forecasts, we are on official standby for The Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta® on Sunday 12th June.

We will continue to monitor the weather closely and provide a further update on Saturday 11th June.
